Sports Day 2022

The children took part in various activities including skipping, hula hooping, tennis, hockey, three legged races, penalty shoot outs, long jumping, running, water activities and many more.

We had two bouncy castles in the school which the children thoroughly enjoyed! Well done to all the boys and girls for their excellent behaviour and participation on Sports Day 2022!

Flag Day 2022

Walterstown NS held “Flag Day” yesterday to celebrate the awarding of three flags that we successfully earned this year. Our school was very proud of this huge achievement!

WNS were awarded the:

  • Green Flag
  • Active Flag
  • Amber Flag

The whole school community worked very hard to meet the criteria for each of the above flags. We held a whole school assembly on the yard – the first time we were able to do this in a long time! Members of the Green, Active and Amber Flag Committees spoke before each flag was raised to a rounding applause!

Afterwards, the Parents’ Association kindly organised a visit from the ice-cream van to celebrate the amazing achievement. Everyone was delighted with their ice-cream/slushie!

Well done to all involved!

Purple Room

The children have been sequencing the story “The Teddy Bear’s Picnic” ahead of their own picnic for their upcoming school tour.

They have been learning various literacy and numeracy concepts.

They have also been keeping up with their gardening and enjoying outdoor activities with their nature walks and P.E.

Our School Anthem

Written in keeping with our motto, ‘Ar Aghaidh le Chéile – Moving Forward Together’, our anthem has been composed by the children of our school. You can click on the link to our school YouTube Channel below and sing along with our 1st edit of ‘Ar Aghaidh le Chéile’ at any time and anywhere!

Once ready, we will professionally record the school community performing ‘Ar Aghaidh le Chéile’ and make our production available across a variety of media. Keep an eye out for future edits of our anthem on our school socials as they happen!

Share the creativity and, Ar Aghaidh le Chéile!

Creative Schools Week Art Competition

The children based their projects on many different forms of art including painting, drawing, sculpture, gardening, installation, literature, knitting, baking, junk art, architecture, lego, jewellery, film making and many more.

Each piece of art was original and creative and the children enjoyed admiring and appreciating each others work. We were blown away by the standard of the artwork and by the amount of talent and creativity which we have in our school!

Fruitcake

The children in 4th, 5th and 6th class were treated to this dark yet funny tale which involved a cookery demonstration!

We would like to give a massive thank you to Alice whose performance we thoroughly enjoyed! If you would like to see another of Alice’s shows please check out the poster above with details of her upcoming performance of Liv which is suitable for 13 year olds +.
